Racers from far far away

Billy Moffett - Monday, July 20, 2009
Hey folks,
I have been in contact with a gentleman from Scotland who wants to race.  He will probably race solo if he can't find a team.  If you or someone you know is in need of a teammate, contact Luke!

On-Site Registration

Billy Moffett - Saturday, July 18, 2009
Hey everyone...

Due to an overwhelming amount of requests, we will have registration open the day of the race.  Now, if you are showing up to ride for 18 hours, this isn't best time to register the day of the event unless you are Jeremiah Bishop!  So, that said, we will have on-site registrtation open from 10 am to 2pm the morning of August 15th. I highly suggest you sign up early at https://www.raceit.com/Register/?event=517 and plan accordingly!  However, if you need to show up and register, we can accomodate you!

Later,
Billy

PRE-RIDE & TRAIL WORK

Billy Moffett - Friday, July 17, 2009
***MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
SATURDAY, AUGUST 8TH

TRAIL WORK -
Trail work will begin promptly at 10 am and will be required in order to pre-ride the course!
No trail work, no pre-ride!  The trail work is not extensive and should not take long to complete with a bunch of help!  We will return to the start/finish line for some lunch and we can head out for the pre-ride in the afternoon.

Pre-ride
You may pre-ride the course in the afternoon until your content or 9 pm whichever comes first!  A big thanks in advance for the trail work to be completed.  Come out and show your labor of love for some of the sweetest single track we have in the mid atlantic region.

4 WEEKS TO GO!!!

Envelopes full of $$CASH$$

Billy Moffett - Friday, July 17, 2009
Hey folks,
You been training?  Good!
If you win a category at the 18 hour,  you will receive an envelope filled with cash-money as your prize.
Could you imagine the possibilities of things you could do with this?
You could:
1. Come home with your winnings and take your wife to a really nice dinner.
2. Buy that new wheel set you have been saving up for...  You know the the ones that will make you go stupid fast!
3. Blow it on beer.
4. Go to the bank and get $1 bills and count them one by one!

So many possibilities!
NOW GET BACK TO TRAINING!

Later
Billy
P.S.- I will post about the training rides soon!

Emails

Billy Moffett - Thursday, July 16, 2009
Hey folks,
Sorry about the email I sent out to all registered riders tonight.  I am still getting acquainted with the new website and was playing around.

Anyway, we are getting a ton of positive feedback on this race and the vendors are stoked!   We are gearing up for the largest 18 Hours Scouts Honor ever!  If you haven't signed up yet, you still have time before the next price increase.

7/13/09 Race Update

Billy Moffett - Monday, July 13, 2009
Hey there... AWESOME race this weekend thanks to Chris Scott w/ Shenandoah Mountain Touring.  Those guys know how to build a race course!  http://www.mtntouring.com/mountain/htm/home/page_home.htm
Check the mountain bike blog for details and hear all about the day my legs didn't want to race!

Anyway, back to the 18 hour.
Kids Race
We are currently working on things to do for the whole family.  Currently, we don't have any plans for a kids race buttoned down, but we are working on it.   So stay tuned to this blog for the details.

Aid Station
For those of you who think you are more aerodynamic without your camelbak, leave it at home!  We will have an aid station with water to keep you hydrated during a hot day.  Just rock some water bottles!

That's it for now,

Billy

7/9/09 Race Update

Billy Moffett - Thursday, July 09, 2009
Okay folks,
Registration is filling up quick and we are sold out of the Sleepy Hollow Cabins and there is no waiting list!  Wow, things are really moving!!  Also, we haven't had any interest in the Yurts since they sleep 12 peeps, so we decided to make it open to anyone!  Anyone can get a bed in a yurt... hey it beats sleeping on the ground and it's only $8!!!

I will be away from the race stuff for the next few days!  I am hitting up the Iron Mountain 100k this weekend.  If you shoot me an email, it may be a while before I get back to you, but rest assured, I will return your email!!

Also, please be aware that Princeton Tech will not be able to make it to the race this year!  We are working on other ways for people to rent lights, but at the moment we don't have an answer.  WIth only one month left, I doubt we can change this, so go ahead and beg your buddy or neighbor who decided not race this year for use of their light.  I am sure they will say " sure... the 18 hours, no problem man!"

Stay tuned much more to come, but for now, that's all I got!

Billy

Registration Stuff

Billy Moffett - Wednesday, July 08, 2009
Okay folks, if you get here you are probably registered for the race! Here is a list of topics we are currently working on!

1. If you request lodging for the event, go ahead and email me at bmoffett@richmondasr.com and let me know what you registered for so I can confirm your reservation.

2. Fees on raceit.com are coming in a bit higher than originally expected.  This will explain how some of the fees are charged.

For example:  If you register for a 4 person team, plus a cabin, the extra $20 breaks down as such:
4 x $4.50 for individual transaction fees = $18 and $2 for the transaction for renting a cabin.

If you have any questions about these topics or any other topics, you know... 18 Hours related, shoot me an email at
bmoffett@richmondasr.com

Hang with us as we continue to grow!

Thx-
Billy
