New Trail Sections

Bill Swann - Friday, July 09, 2010
There will be some new trail sections and course changes so be sure to check out the ride on the 17th! We'll be looking to make the course just a little bit more spectator friendly and easier for the riders to access their pits if they are in the cabins, yurtz or just further south in the camp.
RD Billy Moffett is putting the plan together and working with trail meister, Cycles Ed, to come up with the new course!
See you on the trails,

Swannee

A message from Cycles Ed: ride at the Scout Camp

(A message from Cycles Ed: ride at the Scout Camp)

Hello all riders.

Finally, what you've been asking for - A ride at the Camp!

First ride will be Sat the 17th.  Meet at camp around 5:30pm, NO earlier please.  Riders should sign in, you know the routine -  ride till 9 - 9:30.  Bring Friends, Bring water.  Bring lights if you plan on entering the course after 7:30.

Course will be marked at questionable turns ONLY,  it's suggested that if you have any question concerning the course, ride with others that know the trail

Two new sections are open, one of which was only recently completed and never ridden - so, you can be the first kid on the course to do so.

Hope to see many of you then -

Ed

Prize Purse - YES - Prize Purse...were you there last year?!

Bill Swann - Wednesday, April 21, 2010
REMEMBER - last year we paid out $3300 in prize purse...and, NO - this was not to pro's - this was to you, the age grouper.
Do the research - how many other races pay this much, this deep!
Toe the line, ride the course - pick up your check while you're eating breakfast!

See you on the trails!

Howdy riders.

For some time I've been hoping to get the trails at the camp clear and groomed for your riding pleasure, well it's not working as planed so a change in tactics is in order.

The trails need work - period!  They're leaf covered and some dead fall is blocking the way at some points.  It would appear that the only way they're going to be cleaned up is for folks to start riding them.  This means you.

Please ride with a group or at least with a buddy rider - again, Trails are leaf clutter covered, you'll easily loose way if you don't know it well.  Speed should be kept to a minimum until the trail conditions are less slippery from the leaves.

One new section of trail is open - it will be marked!  One new TTF is open - it will also be marked.  The rest of the trails are NOT Marked!

First ride will take place Wed the 21st.  Meet time no earlier than 5pm and ride till dark.  This is not considered a night ride!!!  Plan on leaving by dark.  Thank you!

As in the past everyone must sign in, and record your license plate #.   Sing-in log book is on one of the tables at the Cub Scout welcome center.

If I need to cancel the ride due to weather or other unforeseen issues I'll send out notice via email the day before.

NOTE:  I'll be out there most of that day (Wed) prior to the ride working on the trails - I'd really like some help if any of you can join me - !

Weekend Trail Work with Cycles Ed and Jody

Billy Moffett - Monday, April 12, 2010

Hey folks,
Last weekend we were out at the scout camp prepping course for the 2010 version of the 18 Hour. Let me tell you... Ed and Jody have outdone themselves to bring you the sweetest single track in the mid atlantic area.  This years course is going to be approximately 11 miles in length and you just can't find singletrack like this anywhere else!

Ed, Jody and many others (you know who you are) have been doing great trail work at the camp for a number of years now.  We have created a trail fund during the registration process to help raise funds for these trail and keep them open and accessible for years to come! 100% of the trail fund will be used toward the trails.  Help us raise money and come race day, you will be glad you did!
